VEHICLE STORY

The reason i started this build was due to some traumatic incident that had occurred in my life and it was a way to not only focus my attention; but dedicate my build to what i had lost; Cali - My first american bulldog. The reason i choose this particular one was because it was the last place i had shared with Cali and where she was taken from me. The car was a gift from my parents during my first years in college; they had paid the down payment and I took over car payments from there. The modifications all started with minor exterior mods which included 5% tints and gradually moved over to sound a sound system to where i had installed a JL 10w7 and interior ambiance lighting. This eventually led to the thirst for speed; as i've always been an adrenaline junkie and after driving my first boosted car - a 1300+ whp 2JZ the boost crave began. I decided to push this platform for the mere reason that i had the funds and fuck it why not; after commissioning a turbo kit by Gato Performance and getting it tuned by CMB for a modest 247whp/ 231wtq @ 7.6 lbs of boost on a Precision 5857 .63 A/R JB Turbo. We then upped the boost to 9 lbs and ended up with 276whp/249wtq. There were several hurdles and issues, including shady shops that never delivered and scammed out of 'services' that were supposed to be rendered, that had to be worked out and ended up funding much of the R&D for most of the products available for the R18A1. The next steps were to fortify the motor, fuel delivery, intake manifold, and certain parts of the transmission in order to be able to withstand more boost ended up with 343 @ 17 lbs tuned by CMB. After this i had another revamp on the system as there were several limiting factors in the piggy-back Hondata (JUNK) and partnered together with VitViper to go with the MoTeC M1 Stand Alone ECU. With this we were able to implement several unique features previously unavailable including: boost by gear, rolling anti-lag, true closed loop and several other amazing features. We made 410whp/330wtq @ 22 lbs on the 5857 JB .63 A/R Precision Turbo and ran 11.158 @ 130mph in the 1/4 mile - officially making this the FASTEST R18A1 in the WORLD!! We next decided to crank up the boost a bit more and reached 551whp/425wtq @ 36 lbs on the 5857 JB .63 A/R Precision Turbo. Although we have yet to find a option for a dogbox and thus have currently put a stop to progression on the build until we find someone that offers a dogbox, as the current gears are screaming bloody murder and whining like you wouldn't believe. Out of all the mods made to the car, i definitely believe the best most that offered the biggest bang for the buck would be the inclusion of VitViper and the MoTeC M1 platform that allowed for so much progression forward and the addition of a bunch of logic and features that would have otherwise been unattainable. This greatly allowed for the power to be able to put to the ground efficiently and effectively in order to attain the results we wanted and sustain our goals for the quest for 8's. The path i choose for selecting parts for this build was all part of a learning curve as it required several parts to be tested, pushed to their limits until an upgrade was required. I highly recommend going with someone you trust and is well trusted in the industry and not dealing with scammers or lowlife shops. This is essential in truly building a race-car and being able to push a platform to it's limits with a team you trust, that you know is not taking advantage of you. The biggest challenge with this build was dealing with shops that could not hold their end of the service contract and that would continuously lie and exploit someone with a true passion for building cars. In addition the lack of aftermarket support required for me to fund quite a bit of the R&D needed to make parts for the vehicle in order to progress forward and continue to push the car to its limits. The next plans for the car include being able to find a partner to build a dogbox for the vehicle as we've partnered with ClutchMasters and built a custom 725 Series triple disc clutch in order to be able to put the power to the ground as the previous clutch was slipping pretty badly. This way we can continue to push this platform to it's limits and see exactly what the R18A1 is actually capable of in capable hands! Because #whynot #fuckitican #VitViper #MoTeC #M1Army #R18A1 #Honda #Civic #SOHC
