My dad actually got this car in 2003 as a graduation present for me. I have a pretty awesome dad as you can imagine. I have been a fan of Ford since I was a little kid and my dream car was always a Mustang. I floated the idea to my dad for years to get me one but it mostly went ignored. When I was 17 I randomly found this Mustang at a Ford dealership an hour away and jokeingly told my dad he should get it for me. To my surprise he said “we should go look at it”. Long story short, the next day I owned a 1999 Cobra Mustang. Mods started about a year later. I live in the North Georgia Mountains surrounded by world class mountain roads, so it’s always been about handling for me. Contacted Maximum Motorsports and they help put together a suspension that was their Road and Track package and Coilover package. Choose custom valved Bilstein shocks and they helped me decide spring rates based on what I wanted and my expected future mods. I then contacted Kenny Brown Performance because they were the only people making parts for the IRS in the Cobra. Bought an IRS brace and aluminum bushing from them. While talking to them, they mentioned that they were doing a black pearl powder coated Cobra R wheel and told me to check them out on their site. They looked fantastic, so I added them to my order. Also ordered a Bassani off-road x-pipe and full cat-back system. And then I bought a set of Ford Racing 4.10 gears and finally took it all to MV Performance in Stathem Georgia to install everything. They also did a custom tune for the few engine mods and to correct the speedo for the 4.10 gears. After about a week, I picked up a completely transformed Mustang. To give a little reference in how the car handles; I entered into an Autocross event at a big Mustang show in Mrytle Beach. I not only won it, my car was close to 3 seconds faster than the next fastest car. It will pull G’s that literally feel uncomfortable. Now it is in pretty much the same state that it was then. It currently has a little less than 70,000 miles on it and I still carve up mountain roads with it several times a year.
