After I graduated, I inherited my father's old '06 Jetta TDI Highline. Body needed some TLC, but it was the most solid vehicle on the road. It had 270k kms when I got it, and I put on another 80k. It suffered emissions equipment failures (which I should have just deleted) and needed a camshaft (don't listen to the 16k km service interval! Change your oil more often). Anyway, I traded it in on a 2014 Tiguan CL, loaded. Between the economy, having the Porsche to dump money into, and parting ways with the GF, I didn't need the Tiguan, and I missed the little TDI's, so I hit up AutoTrader and found this little deal. The dealership was easy enough to work with - dealing with the Tig on trade, replacing the stereo in the Jetta which was toast - and I take delivery on Monday, April 25th. I've already started my build list for this (which will be staccato'd due to summer and the Porsche) based on my experience with my '06. First up: get the poisonous and doomed-to-fail emissions systems out of the way. I'll hang onto the EGR as long as it's functioning (Canadian winters and all). At some point I'll drop in a MkV IRS, and then Rawtek exhaust, and finally lowering springs. It'll be my winter beater / daily so I won't go too crazy.
