"Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it?" I found it after on and off searching for a manual, preferably hardtop, fourth gen F-body for a few years. I found it after searching on Craigslist one morning, a few emails later I was there the next morning buying it. What made me pick this one in particular is that it's exactly how I wanted one; black hardtop with the 6-speed. That and being a well taken care of 2 owner car definitely helped its case. I would've compromised on colour or T-tops(glad I didn't have to), but there was no compromising on the transmission. I hate automatics so it was 6-speed or nothing which had been the case since 6-speed F-bodies are a pain to find. "Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it?" Started stock. The first thing I did was put on 9.5" wide rims off a C4 Corvette with 275/40-17 BF Goodrich Sport COMP-2 tires front and back. Then I did the intake, exhaust, and shifter. Most recently I redid the headlights because the sealed beams were just dangerous to drive with at night. "Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck?" Easily the rims and tires, increased the handling and acceleration capability greatly. Though I'd say the headlights are probably the most useful and my favourite mod since I can now drive at night without worrying if I can see what's out in front of me or not. "How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share?" I just started looking for small ways to improve the car and make it more to my liking. "What are you planning next?" Suspension and brakes. I'm probably the only person to buy a fourth gen and be happy with the drivetrain stock, even though the brakes and suspension are actually fairly good all things considered there's definitely room for improvement. More specifically I want to do a Watt's link conversion and go to C5 Corvette front brakes the most, then Strano or UMI springs with Koni shocks is probably next followed by Strano sway bars and a bunch of other small things like bushings etc... "What’s been the biggest challenge with this build?" Coming to terms with the solid axle. I love all kinds of cars rather they be American, Japanese, or European but most of my cars have been Japanese with independent rear suspension. I had a Celica and Miata prior so it's a bit of a shift to something 1,000 pounds heavier with a solid axle. They're all fun in their own way, in fact I'm looking forward to getting another Miata to park next to it.
