VEHICLE STORY

Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? The story. Everyone has a story and it makes it interesting. Here is mine.  I chose this car because, well it was in the family since 1993 and I love how it looks. Not only that but its unique being its a mid engine drive, and fun to drive. It was bought by my oldest brother in 93. Sold to another brother in approximately 2009, and has been in my possession since 2011. This is when I started falling in love with this car. Now in 2017, I have decided to liven up and bring the car back to life...with a whole new intensity. Speaking to a lot of people about options, between fixing the 5SFE or swapping...well yeah bye 5SFE. Many other options were revealed to me and this is why i chose the 3SGTE gen 4. This will be the heart of the build. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? To date, the MR2 has the following: Goodridge Stainless steel brake lines, K&N Intake, 17" Cragar wheels (Staggered) wrapped in Kuhmo Ecstas. I also have Tein Street Basis coilovers on to lower it 1/2" for the time being. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? So far, the coil overs have been. It gave me the cosmetic enhancements I wanted and also gave me a bit better utility for handling. How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? Like most situations when something breaks you replace it. The front struts were do far gone that they needed replacing. So I contacted a friend at TH Motorsports and ordered some Tein coil overs. At the current moment I couldnt source the stock Bilstein struts so I chose what I could find. The installation was straight forward. Safety first and foremost. Never risk your self.  What are you planning next? Well since its down with a bad ecu, and its slow as a 1 legged dog...its getting the 3sgte swap. Engine, trans, side mount intercooler, harness, brakes, steering, etc is all being done. What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? Money. Patience. Motivation. Support. For me, i just sold my old car that blew the motor due to no space for it. Finally after some motivation from a few people we have arrived here. Thanks to them, and a few others I have gotten the drive to. It will be a slow process due to slow money. Just be patient with me
