In March 2015, my VW Jetta was smashed into while it sat outside my girlfriend's house. It was a 2003 Jetta 1.8T. The car was like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I was meticulous with its care. When the insurance company told me I was only going to be receiving $4300 for it I was furious. But I took the money and paid off what was left on it. I looked everywhere for its replacement. Finally, one morning I was checking my newsletter from BringATrailer.com and there it was. 1985 Volkswagen Scirocco 20,015 original miles One owner Same color as my Jetta. Platinum Metallic. 5-speed manual, black leather, and so much 80's style. Check out the original for sale ad here: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-vw-scirocco/?corder=desc&docache=true×tamp=1436994234615#PhotoSwipe1437487154565 All of this and only a 2 hour drive on the highway to pick it up, it was a done deal.  During the last 5 minutes of the online auction I was shaking with adrenaline. After a back and forth bidding battle I ended up paying $6300 plus buyers fee of 5%. Upon picking up this time capsule, I was floored with how new it appeared. Every aspect of the car was flawless. It's as if I was picking it up straight from Rasnak Volkswagen where it was originally delivered. With the car I was given a few packets of papers documenting the one owner purchasing it and all the maintenance it has had over the last 30 years.
