Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? I've always liked this body style of Celica, it looks so unusual with the pod headlights. This car popped up for a really good price when I was shopping for a winter beater and I couldn't say no. Can't beat turbo all wheel drive in the snow for fun, right hand drive is an added thrill too. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? Most recent mod is the forged engine build. Most of the modifications prior to that have been maintenance and upkeep that the previous owner(s) had neglected. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? Steering wheel is definitely the best bang for the buck. $20 for a used wheel that's a smaller diameter makes the world of difference in the way it feels to drive. Having the stripe marking the center line is a huge benefit when racing on ice or dirt surfaces where there is no shortage of opposite lock - even in an AWD lump. How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? Use OEM Toyota parts where you can, some of the maintenance on this chassis is AIDS. Do it right the first time with something designed to last. What are you planning next? Beat the shit out of it and blow the engine up again. What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? Not driving it while the engine was grenade fodder.
