VEHICLE STORY

I've wanted one of these since 2007 when I heard they were coming to the US. At the time I saw it as a car that someday I might be able to own but most likely a heavily used one years and years down the road. My friend was in the military and he custom ordered one while in Europe in 2009. I was so jealous and when I got to ride in it I realized I had to get one no matter what.  I basically passed up buying a house, worked my ass off at work, and sold all my toys so I could get one. I found this Lemans Blue 2011 with only 3,500 miles on it. I drove 3 and half hours to get it. I knew I was going to buy it before even going on the test drive. When I got it home I thought I had to coolest car in the world. That was before I modded it.  Now it's just on a completely different level. There's always some kink to work out here or there but I'm keeping this thing forever. It's truly an amazing car in every way; handling, steering feel, comfort, braking, quality, POWER, high speed cruising, some people would say looks also. I show and race the car whenever possible. It definitely gets driven hard. It was also featured as the car of the month in Performance BMW Magazine and if you do a Google Search for "Lemans Blue Metallic" this very car is the first image, shown with stock wheels.

Taylor, I only have the bushing inserts installed. Replacing the whole bushing with M3 ones is a huge PITA. These inserts cost me a total of $50 and about an hour and a half of my time to install them. They make a very noticeable improvement on the feel of the rear end. It just feel more planted, especially on uneven or bumpy pavement. I can feel the difference when I drive my friends 135i without them. I certainly wouldn't spend $800 though.

Very cool car, man. I'm jealous.

How much did the subframe bushings improve the handling? I've been quoted about $800 to have them installed, is it worth it?

My numbers are adjusted for crank HP / TQ using 15% drive train loss. Just wanted to point that out.
