What made you choose this particular product?
I wanted to go with a reverse hood scoop design on my car because I love the look of these hoods and they also happen to be much more functional than a classic Subaru hood scoop when running a front mount intercooler.
Is this your first time buying from this brand? Did you consider other brands?
First time buying from Kaminari and so far it has been a great experience. I briefly considered MPH Fab for a custom reverse scoop hood but those were simply way outside my price range. For the quality of hood I got I think the money was well worth it.
Was it easy to install? Any installation tips that will help others?
Install wasn't super hard but I did need to trim some metal on the rear portion of each front fender to allow the hood clearance to close without making contact. Also having two people makes it much easier to bolt up the hood without causing any damage.
Once you've had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
Absolutely. The hood is functional and looks absolutely incredible. Underhood temps are also down slightly over the naturally aspirated style hood I was running before without any venting or air dams.
Any additional comments?
The presence of some small voids in the carbon fiber should be expected. Kaminari does not vacuum seal the gel coat on these hoods but instead uses prepreg carbon. Just something to be aware of because I noticed some of these in the Kaminari hood but not my old Seibon hood when I was waxing it. You can't really see them at all when its mounted and in the sunlight.
