VEHICLE STORY

I've always had an eye out for second generation DSMs. Ever since my dad got his 1995 Eclipse GS when I was 12, I swore to own my own. I have since then owned 4 second generation DSMs with my 4th being my current and last one lol. These AWD 4g63 are something else I tell you. I cant get enough of them! I bought this car back in 2011 with a RRE built 6 Bolt (2g piston w/ 1g big rods). The motor had a slight tick to it, which I thought to be the common lifter tick. So without thinking much of it I ended driving the car like that for 30k and even got it tuned on both 91 and E85. It made 360whp with a Big 16g and some corn juice. My goal for the car was to hit the 400hp so I bought a version 1 HTA68 to accomplish this. I figured that before I add more horsepower to the motor, I should overhaul it since it had about 80k on it since its rebuild. Sadly, during its tear down I discovered that the "tick" I thought to be coming from my lifters was actually a ROD KNOCK! My 6 bolt was a ticking time bomb since the day that I bought it. I couldn't believe the reliability I got out of that motor with a rod knock. I beat on that motor after I got tuned for about 10k and it never gave me a problem. Lucky me, I guess. Now the car has been completely overhauled from engine, transmission, transfer case, diff, you name it. I did achieve my goal of 400hp this past spring. The car ended up making 401hp/380qt on E85 with my HTA68. I've put about 5k on the new setup and I'm loving every second of it. I would like to say that my build is complete but everyone knows a project is never over. Lets see where this car takes me for 2017! 2017 Update Made a bunch of changes to this car over the year in both aesthetic and performance wise. New hood, hatch, wheels, brakes, cams, exhaust manifold, suspension bits, and throttle body. I also got this turd retuned and gained 45hp and 20tq with the same turbo. I'm quite pleased where this car is at now, lets see how long it last before I start tearing into it again. For those interested in seeing my complete build, go subscribed to my youtube channel!
