Since I was 16, the Impala SS has always been one of my favorite cars. In fact, the first car I bought with my own money was a 1961 Impala SS with a “409”. I only had it for 1 year (too many tickets) but it made a lasting impression. So, when I saw the new Impala SS in 1994 I knew I had to have one. In 1995 I picked up a Dark Metallic Cherry Impala SS and then spent the next 10 years customizing it. I traveled around the country entering Impala car shows and occasionally running it down the drag strip. I have many trophies on my office shelves that I won with the 95 - the last being top of the class at the 2006 Impalafest. I had wanted a 96 for awhile – needed the floor shifter – so in 2006 I ran across one on eBay with many of the modifications I wanted. I won the bid and began to put my touch to it. A new interior was added along with a custom paint job and lots of little details. Finally, Samson was completed in Feb. 2008. Just in time for my 60th birthday. Thanks to Ed’s Auto Trim for the great interior and to PJ Kingrey for the outstanding paint job.
