I really didn't start out as a Corvette guy, the Corvette just seem to have happened.  I started off as a Porsche 914 guy…..Yes, I know..big difference in cars.  I was in the process of building a 914-6 at home from scratch.  I bought an basic 914, took some welding classes at the local JC and began fixing the rust issues on the car.  The car had many other issues which kept setting me back and I started to become disinterested in the car.  We had a "Love/Hate" relationship.  I started to part the car out and sell everything I had which pocketed me at least 3 times what I had in it.  It was lots of work and many visits to the UPS store but I got 99% of the car pieced out.

Now about the Corvette. From when I was a little kid, I have always had a liking for the body styling of the C3 Corvette as I'm sure many others did as well.  Never really kept up with them so I didn't know if they were expensive or inexpensive cars.  I could just imagine that at least the parts would be much more reasonable than any of the classic foreign cars.  A buddy of mine knew that I was in the market for a toy weekend driver car that I could tinker with and drive when he came across this car on Craigslist in West Covina, CA.  He called me and told me about the car so I checked it out.  The car had a little over 100K miles with a 350 V8 and a manual 4 speed. The paint job was pretty bad but the car had potential, so I bought it.

My goal with the car is to try to make it as good of a canyon driving C3 as I can get.  I know many consider these "muscle cars" but I think of it as a sports car and will continue to make it as sporty as possible.  I am a big fan of classic motor racing so that is the look I am going for with car.  Honestly, the numbers are covering up issues with the paint which I not too worried about since the car is a driver.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you Andrew! I trying to figure out how to upload a video on this site but I can't seem to get it. Any suggestions?

You can add a video in the Vehicle Story or as a post right below here where it says Share something awesome, but it has to be a video already on YouTube...but direct video uploads are coming soon!
