Shop Tools ModsI have a '97 Mazda Miata (Montego Blue - Touring Package), and a pretty good story that comes with it. I am the 3rd owner, and my father was the 2nd owner. The original owner of this car was Dr. Henry B. Lick, Vice President and manager of industrial hygiene for Ford Motor Co. in Detroit Michigan. My Dad found the car online, and flew from Tennessee to Detroit to pick it up. Each week the car was started and driven around the island and gated community that Henry lived on in the Detroit suburbs. When purchased the odometer had 14,995 miles on it! On t he day of purchase it was raining in Detroit, and when the car was pulled out in the rain for a test drive, Dr. Lick teared up and said “That’s the first time that car’s ever been wet!” Henry went on to say that the car has never been over 60 mph! He and his wife were both unable to easily get in and out of the car, thus the sale. That was in 2008. Some people are surprised that a Ford VP drove a Mazda, but Ford and Mazda have an ongoing relationship, and they share engine technology and both have versions of the same car….Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute….Ford Ranger/Mazda B series pick-ups. The car had approximately 54,500 miles on it when I took ownership of the car from my dad in 2014. My dad was dying of cancer, and became too weak to drive it anymore. He knew I would take good care of the car, so he gave it to me as a gift a few weeks before he died. I drove it from Tennessee to where I live in Chicago, IL. I now use it as my daily driver, and love every mile I put on it (I'm at about 93,000 as of now 3/16). I also own a 2013 BMW X3, and would much rather drive this little old Miata. If you have any interest in following my Miata build, I have a YouTube channel dedicated to the build. The channel is called "Because Miata". https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCouyoIjg_YJKqwce5yICXfA/featured
