VEHICLE STORY

This is my latest Porsche acquisition. It's a 1975 914 1.8 that my brother and I found in a yard in rural New Mexico. It's Scarlet Red with a black interior. You can see the photo as we found it, and the other is how it's currently looking. Nice low budget transformation! 75 and 76 914s normally come with big impact bumpers, but this one had already been backdated to earlier chrome bumpers. It came with factory option Mahle wheels nicknamed "gasburners." They look cool and are very light. I vinyl wrapped the horrible hood with 3M 1080 matte black, polished the faded paint, redid the side graphics in black and painted the Mahles semi-gloss black. Much better! I also added one inch bolt-on spacers all the way around and rolled and slightly pulled the rear arches.  I replaced the single Weber carb with a freshly rebuilt dual Weber setup. The motor is actually a 1.7 (don't know what happened to the 1.8) with 1.8 heads and a Monza exhaust. It's a fun car with tons character and attitude. Cheers!
