I got this car in 2007 it was a fairly standard 97 GST as in it had a 14 b turbo on a stock 7 bolt engine and ricer underglow lights when I went to the dealer to look at it it would barely run as it had blown off an intercooler coupler and had a massive leak I got the car cheap went and got a hose clamp and a set of spark plugs and drove off spinning the tires I removed the underglow kit and replaced the front motor mount, about 6 months later after replacing the starter it split a wrist pin and broke a rod and put it through the block I then got a gvr4 6 bolt a local mechanic helped me install it and wire it to work with my 2g electronics. About 6 months after that it had a dry rotted balance shaft belt that broke and jammed a piece in the timing belt and bent all the intake valves (I had been coasting when it did this and thus minimized the damage) the engine was pulled the head was overhauled and ported and polished the bottom end was rebuilt the balance shafts were eliminated using the long shaft technique. I reinstalled the motor with a new clutch and prothane mounts upgraded the suspension with AGX shocks and prothane bushings. I drove it like that for a few years then replaced the timing belt installed a Recaro driver's seat from an Evo 1 installed a turbosmart manual boost controller and autometer boost gauge. I also picked up a set of Falken azeni 615's and happily drove her for a couple more years at this point the transmission started popping out of first gear and got to the point where it won't stay in at all. It also has some pretty dried out and cracked injector wires so the plan for this year is to fix the wiring and swap on a good used trans.
