The Story

1. Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? Something about it just caught my eye. I found it while still serving in the Marine Corp. I just got back from deployment and I didn't have a car. I wanted something different and nothing against them, but all I saw around here at the time were muscle cars. I started looking on-line and found this beauty. Loved the color, body lines, and AWD. 2. Describe the modifications you have made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? I'v upgraded most everything but the motor itself. I started with the FMIC, Tein coilovers, and a bigger turbo along with the little mods that go with it (injectors, fuel pump, ect.). Most recently I put in Cadillac CTS-V Brembo brakes in the front, front and rear Whiteline sway bars, and minor exterior aero. 3. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? I'd say it was the turbo and FMIC. adding just a little power to these agile cars is well worth it. The transmission gears were upgraded before I bought the car. I do have a set of STI RA gears sitting in the garage just as a back-up, but both and able to handle 350 whp. I bought the second set knowing stock 02 WRX gears are glass, but didn't know the installed gears were upgraded. 4. How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? Unfortunately most of the motor upgrades I didn't have the knowledge or tools to do them myself. The sway bars and external mods I managed to figure out. Only tip I can give on installing is just dive in yourself and try to learn and figure things out. Even if you can't get it done without taking it to a mechanic that's OK. you'll appreciate your car a lot more. 5. What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? Not a huge challenge but just keeping up with basic maintenance. As you mod your car you'll notice maybe it sounds strange in this area or that, that's the name of the game. Now that I think about it, money. Having the money to get the parts I want would have to be the biggest challenge. 6. What are you planning next? My next plan is going to be my last biggest mod. I'm looking for a shop to build me a 2.5L bottom-end hybrid motor. I don't need to much more HP I just want a stronger bottom and mid-range power.
