I bought this car in May 2010 from a couple in Collierville, TN. It was lowered and had a Vararam intake already installed. In Sept of 2012, I broke a valve spring and dropped a valve into the cylinder, which shattered the piston head and pretty much grenaded my engine. So it sat, for 2 1/2 years, while we had our last kid and I retired from the Army. After stabilizing in a job as a civilian, I began plotting my re-build last summer, and began ordering parts and dropped my car off at the dealership in late Nov 2014. I decided on the GM LS376/480 after debating on having Texas Speed build me one. I still wish I had done that, but I am very satisfied with this engine. Lots of parts later, I got a good dyno tune from Jerry Onks at Vettesport in Smyrna, TN this summer, and ended up with 430 rwhp, 416 tq. Not bad for an LS3 crate motor with a factory installed Hotcam. There were a ton of adapter wires and parts that I either had to use or chose to add while it was apart (i.e., headers and clutch). I'll eventually add the entire build sheet here so people can see what it takes to put an LS3 in a C5.

I'm open to suggestion. My friend is trying to convince me to do the Z51 setup from the C7. Apparently if you replace the spindle with the C7 spindle, everything just bolts on.

Don't worry about sending it at this point. I have to figure out what I am doing about brakes first and then recover from all of the money I have been spending. Probably next summer at the earliest before I go looking for more power.

Rick, if you want, I have a spreadsheet with everything I did and how much it cost. I can email it to you if you want. If I had to do it again, I'd just buy the LS3 ECM instead of using my stock one. May have broken even or been a little cheaper with all the extra harnesses and adapters I had to buy.

Please post more info on your LS3 swap. I have been dreaming about one and would love to know what I am getting myself into.
