I bought this car in May 2010 from a couple in Collierville, TN. It was lowered and had a Vararam intake already installed. In Sept of 2012, I broke a valve spring and dropped a valve into the cylinder, which shattered the piston head and pretty much grenaded my engine. So it sat, for 2 1/2 years, while we had our last kid and I retired from the Army. After stabilizing in a job as a civilian, I began plotting my re-build last summer, and began ordering parts and dropped my car off at the dealership in late Nov 2014. I decided on the GM LS376/480 after debating on having Texas Speed build me one. I still wish I had done that, but I am very satisfied with this engine. Lots of parts later, I got a good dyno tune from Jerry Onks at Vettesport in Smyrna, TN this summer, and ended up with 430 rwhp, 416 tq. Not bad for an LS3 crate motor with a factory installed Hotcam. There were a ton of adapter wires and parts that I either had to use or chose to add while it was apart (i.e., headers and clutch). I'll eventually add the entire build sheet here so people can see what it takes to put an LS3 in a C5.
