Did something hard, i traded in my frs for a 2015 4runner as my new daily. Bitter sweet moment , i loved my 86 but this is an awesome car and am stoked to mod it and enjoy it too. And now i start my search for a new reliable project, 350z? 300xx? Sti? Evo? Skyline? S14? Still cant decide anyone care to chime in?

350z has gotten fairly inexpensive and they are plentiful. I loved the 300zx, but they do look like mechanical nightmares to work on, especially a twin turbo. STi and Evo is hard to beat when it comes to having practical, do everything but fun transportation, but they'll be a bit costlier. Skyline, if it's not a GT-R, doesn't really appeal to me, and I don't know if I could live with rhd in the US, but many do.

[]Jordan Nipper

R32 gtr is a dream car of mine so im just debating saving a litttle more for that but im not sure if i want one right now

[]Robert Sixto

They are undeniably cool, but you definitely need the right budget as they don't come especially cheap for good ones, and being over 20 years old you likely will need to put at least some work into it.

[]Landon Shore

Nissan's do make for great platforms to build on. I can confidently say, a 300ZX Z32 is not the best for being a project, they are just too technical to really play and tinker, the turbo model is a spider wed of vacuum lines, that once you have attained a leak free system, you won't want to touch it again. The one thing I was missing with mine was the enjoyment of getting my hands dirty under the hood.
The 240SX's always seem like a great place to start with having a fun project. Infinite parts to pick and choose from, a strong chassis to build on, and most importantly...rear wheel drive.
350Z's seems easy enough to play with as well, but I was put my vote on a S13 or S14

[]Jordan Nipper

Ha yeah 240s are my favorite i have 2

[]Landon Shore

Oh well damn haha...go for a 350 then haha

[]Jordan Nipper

Hah yeah thats what im weighing towards, honestly its between that or an sti

[]Landon Shore

As much as i love turbo motors, I feel simple is best for projects...but if you have already built on similar platforms, perhaps an air would be an interesting change of pace

[]Jordan Nipper

Thats how im seeing it too. How do you like your z32

[]Landon Shore

I love the Z32, the chassis is a little snappy when at the limit, but I am sure the all wheel steering is a factor in that. It has served me well at numerous time attacks, punching well above its weight...but I've never really felt totally free to dig into it and tinker on different projects. Its all a bit too compact under the hood, and parts are generally not cheap for the car.

[]Robert Sixto

I absolutely loved these cars, was my high school dream car. In later years, when I learned a bit more about cars and working on them, the sight of the twin turbo engine bay provoked a tiny panic attack. It is seriously claustrophobic under the hood!

[]Landon Shore

Haha yeah, a lot of blood has been lost under the hood of my Z...my hands are quite scared haha

[]Robert Sixto

I believe it, such a great car though, I can see it being worth it.

[]Landon Shore

It certainly has been...its a great all around car, even as track focused as mine

[]Landon Shore

But I have had 4 Z32's so something keeps bringing me back haha

[]Hayden Baker

I would highly recommend a 350Z. I love mine. They're far more reliable and easier to work on than the 300ZX. The naturally aspirated V6 really responds to easy power mods, there is a huge aftermarket parts supply, the community is huge and pretty knowledgeable, and you can pick one up for pretty cheap. It's a lot of car for the money.

[]Jordan Nipper

Im pretty sure thats what im gonna go with but cant help but keep my options open...

[]Hayden Baker

If you ever have any questions, I'm here

[]Ernie Szots

Congrats on the 4runner, they're awesome. Reliable project? Keep it in the Toyota family and grab a Yaris lol. Not going to find a more reliable platform :P

[]Jordan Nipper

Haha thanks man

[]Wilson Oberholzer

What sort of stuff do you want to do with a new project car? The chassis that might suit you best depends entirely on what you want it to be able to do.

[]Jordan Nipper

Idk im still looking at all options, im pretty torn between the cars i listed. Something to daily if i want and race but i just dont know which one i want

[]Gregory Garoppolo

I always get kind of jealous of the guys at the track who can just shove everything in the back of their wagon. It's a track car and trailer in one!

I have a thing for wagons though. I'd say a V70R, B5 S4 Avant, or an old turbo Volvo (240, 740, 940). I say this but my will-be-track-car is a Volvo 242 and the car I daily and track is a B5 S4 sedan.

Been having on the app and havent been able to post for the past week or so but it seems to work now. Ive been wanting to wrap my roof and decided to order the stuff and did it and it turned out awesome, went ahead and did a shark fin antenna as well.

[]Sheldon Hall

A roof wrap is such a simple mod but does so much to enhance the look of your car!
