When I was about 12 years old, I met a new friend at school, and he invited me over to his house. "You want to see something cool?," he said? We went down to the garage, and when he turned on the light, there was the coolest car that I had ever seen. He said it was his dad's, and that he never drove it, just treated it like a third child.  Well, 20 years later, I got a message from that same friend. He said that he was getting older, and he couldn't really drive it much any more. He remembered selling his prized GTO to a kid down the street when he needed to buy a minivan for his family, and the kid abused the car and quickly destroyed it. Unable to see that happen to his "Japanese GTO," he reached out to me to see if I wanted to buy it. Hell yes I did. Now I drive it every day on my short, in-town commute, and prefer playing cassette tapes from 1991 on the stock stereo system. My plans are to restore the car to showroom spec, but mostly to just enjoy the nostalgic Gran Turismo 2 vibes and the turbo hiss.
