I bought this car in 1999, when I needed a new daily driver so I could start modifying my 5 series.  After looking a several Audis (4000cs, quattro coupe, 90cs), I came across this car.  After driving it, I was in love. The car was so light and tossable.  The 133hp doesn't seem like much now, but in 2000 this was still a fast car, especially at just 2400 lbs. The close ratio gearbox was fun to drive, but cruising on the highway sucked. 4000rpm at 80mph in 5th gear.  Top speed was gear limited to 120mph, which was 7000rpm. Great car to autocross in.  The recaro seats where amazing. I've yet to find better stock seats.  Even the Corrado that replaced this, didn't have seats this good. While the car was fun, it was fragile.  I had 2 transmissions explode on me from failed differential rivets.  I had a pressure plate crack soon after a clutch replacement.  The timing belt snapped too.  I spent more keeping this car on the road in 2002 than I did to buy the car. Since I sold the car, I've seen 2 other ones in the 15 years since. Such a rare car.
