Sellers was one of three cars on the lead lap.

Alvaro Parente, driver of the No. 9 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3, was awarded the Optima Batteries “Hard Charger” award and the Cadillac Racing “Move of the Race” award in his runner-up performance in the opener. In the final Sprint GT round of 2017 – in contention for the class championship – Parente was spun and eventually hit exiting the second turn on the very first lap. He was unable to finish the race.
