Shop Wheels & Tires ModsTell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? Purchased the car from Camelback VW in Phoenix AZ. Local Bay area dealers wanted $5K over sticker just because and I refused to pay it. Car showed up on AutoTrader for $500 under MSRP and included tinted windows, ceramic coating and was fully optioned out. Purchased the car over the phone same day. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? I've only just began modding the car. So far its got a JB4 piggyback tune, AMS Motorsports Cold Air Intake, AMS Motorsports catted down pipe, AMS Motorsports Inter-cooler and the OEM resonator delete. I also have a few pieces from Flow Designs (front splitter and rear spats). At speed these parts seem to actually help keep the car planted. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? The Burger Motorsports JB4 hands down. Simple to install and really woke the car up. My 60' times stayed in the 1.7x's and ran mid-12's with no other mods.
How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? After lots of research I knew I wanted quality parts over price. Not that they make more more power, but didn't want to deal with stuff not fitting, wrong parts etc.. What are you planning next? My next modification will be an Iroz Motorsports IMS650 Turbo kit. The kits proven to work well with all modifications thus far except for the JB4. What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? With so many great tuners out there it was very difficult to decide the way forward. The Golf R platform is a great starting place. Building more HP/Performance is something I'm looking forward to.
