For the longest time, I wanted my first car to be one of two things. A 240sx s13 or an 80s 3rd gen f-body (firebird/camaro)... Complete polar opposites, but they are both some of my favorite cars ever. as awesome as they would be, neither are very practical, reliable, or comfortable. So i decided I would get a daily driver. I never thought it would happen like this, but a friend of a friends dad owns a garage, and is in the process of closing. He has been trying to clear off his lot, and asked if we wanted the car... For free. It has been sitting unregistered and unrunning in a field for a few years. When we finally pulled it out, it was in sad shape. The previous owner had obviously neglected it, as evidence of the grimy, smoked in interior, and the bondo literally globbed onto the few dents around the car. We got to work immediately at getting it to run, and being a Toyota, that was almost no issue. After some new oil and a jump it started first try. Since then I've been busy sanding back the horribly bad peeling clear coat and fixing the shoddy body work, as well as cleaning the interior, replacing all the basic maintenance bits and getting it road legal once more, so that this summer whenever I get my project car, I will have a fun to drive, reliable daily to jeep me driving while working on the project.
