For the past few months I had been watching ad's on ebay/RS25/NASIOC/AutoTrader for that perfect car. At the time I had been bouncing back and forth between an older GC, a 2002-03 wrx and older wagons. Right after I paid off my truck I found a perfect 2 door silver GC. But it had slipped through the cracks before I could make a move on it. Time had eventually passed and no clean/stock GC's had appeared on any websites in a long time. I had then setteled on an older wagon. My plan was to buy one and get it all painted one solid color (color choice was unknown at the time) and make it look as clean as possible. A lot of work, yes. In late July while I was at an Orioles game (work), my coworker and I had been looking around on Nasioc/ebay/RS25 (what we usually do at work) and found a clean, mostly stock Impreza on ebay from Philly. Immediately it stood out from the rest. We had looked over the listing..researched the parts, got opinions from other Subaru owners/car enthusiasts.. and it seemed perfect. I knew I couldn't let this car slip through the cracks, again. I made a few calls and finally convinced a friend of mine to drive up there with me so I called the owner and let him know we were coming up Monday night. We made the 3 hour drive up there and looked at the car. At the time I knew zip about the mechanical side of cars.. and didn't even know how to drive manual. So my friend looked things over and gave the car a test drive. I was instantly in love with the car. However, everyone back home continued to doubt the car and kept telling me to hold off for a few days and see if the owner would drop the price. It was on ebay aswell... so that wasn't possible, this car was too perfect in my opinion so I finally managed to get some support. I ended up putting down a $500 (or so) deposit on the car that night. And sent a certified check for the rest of the money a few days later. In total, I got the car for $7,500. I picked her up a week later. STi Carpet Install -[May 28, 2008]- --I bought this carpet a few weeks after I bought the car, but a project at work delayed me installing this until just recently. I read online that it would take about 3 hours to put in.. so I allowed myself a 7 hour window to get it done. And.. it took about 6 hours to put in, with a few breaks here and there. Taking everything out was the easy part. This was pretty much the first time I ever had taken a cars interior apart. I had the seats out within 15 minutes. Then came the center console and all its screws (a few which I ended up having leftover when I put everything back in again). Then I started removing the side moldings on the doors and the plastic clips holding the carpet in. After getting the old RS carpet out (+some other gray carpet I had over the RS carpet during the winter) I was ready to drop in the new carpet. I'll tell you now, it was a PAIN getting it to find its sweet spots. I can't begin to express how frustrated I got trying to get it to fit just right in the corners. I still have to go back and staple in another 2 plastic rails so the corners by the rear doors doesn't keep popping up. But, I'm glad I did it. The car looks so much cleaner on the inside with it in. If I had to do this again I would defiantly get someone to help, just having that extra hand to get the carpet to fit right would speed things up so much. STi Drivers Seat Install -[June 4, 2007]- --I found a deal on Nasioc a few weeks ago for a single drivers seat for $110. Instantly I jumped on it, it was too good for me to pass up. I've been looking for a inexpensive *LOCAL* seat for awhile now.. and had only been finding seats out west. A friend and I battled through a bad storm one night in his Hyundai to pick the seat up and bring it back. I then installed it a few days later. Took less than 10 minutes to remove and replace. Now I just need the rear and passenger seat and I'm all set. Well.. until it comes time for a dash swap. :) The Swap has begun! I bought a 2006 2.5L WRX engine from ECS and towed the car up there to get it swapped over. The truck had a rough time getting the trailer+car up huge hills. http://th3forgott3n.com/axalon/rs25/ECS_1_005.jpg http://th3forgott3n.com/axalon/rs25/ECS_1_006.jpg Finally made it to ECS! A buddy and me took the Amtrak up to PA early Monday morning about two weeks ago. Then Paul from ECS picked us up at the station and took us back to the shop in my car. After that we did a little testimonial video and video shoot near the shop. The car feels so good now, it feels like new. http://th3forgott3n.com/axalon/rs25/Swap_1.jpg
