Sigh, the door lock cylinders are frozen. The good: any key will open the doors now - unfortunately, they will catch only after treatment with a heat gun. I want a heated garage!

944 Window Regulator Roller - Repair Kit

Nanoop Zundfolge634 days ago

Oil thread! Anticipating winter, I filled the 944 up with 5W-40 instead of 10W-40. Starting at -5degC really makes a difference- already! When the car can hold its liquor also when hot during the summer, I'll try 0W-40 next fall.

It's questionable when the passenger seat differs from the driver seat, but hey! It's a Recaro!

944 is on winter tires again.

1.5hrs spirited driving, no dripping yet. Oil pressure idle: 1.5 bar, oil pressure at 2krpm: 3.75 bar with 10W-40.

You're never done... I'm still missing a task/maintenance/repair schedule and listing feature in WW... The updated List: - LHS door: outer bottom window stripping: replace. Door "box" dangling from one bolt. Replace the large rubber stripping in the summer. - engine mounts - Replace RHS swaybar holding bracket (not urgent) - Clutch MC leaking(?). - sand and respray three more winter wheels (cookies) - Rust - contact a company for evaluation - get black lug nuts for the cookies, spray silver on those for the phonies 70%

After oil cooler gasket, front seals, water pump, belts and rollers, and hours of cleaning (it's still dirty there...): she (944) fired up right away, and no obvious leaks! I feel pretty proud, not too bad for not-a-mechanic.

A call from Mrs. Z reached me at work, she wants me to get the P-car driveable asap, so we don't have to ride 5hrs with 5 people (some of them in a child seat) in the Roomie. Here's the plan: - clean off old coolant pump gasket from engine - drill 1mm hole into thermostat and install on pump - install new pump - put back coolant hoses - and drain plug - fill up coolant so far. Anything dripping already? - plug the

Old coolant pump nuts and bolts. The correct answer is 11, btw. http://i.imgur.com/0BwxzgK.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/mhJBhSa.jpg I was young and naive when I thought "I'll pull the collars and see if I can re-use them". Three of four were shot, the fourth one is ok if you are tolerant. Waiting for more parts.

A bit low on coolant, not good for a closed cycle system. Compression test was fine (160-170psi dry 190-200psi wet), so everything is pointing to the oil heat exchanger gaskets. This is based on the theory that there are no other coolant leaks... I have all the bits together (pressure valve aligner, gaskets, sealant), aside from new oil, all I need is a day in the garage, and no interruptions.

http://i.imgur.com/Q4wxyDk.jpg Those M4 spoiler bolts. Those nuts are retained by a washer with 7mm hole. That washer is vulcanized into the spoiler rubber's underside.

Found yellow droppings in the snow under the Focus, either brake fluid or cat piss. Parked it on a fresh patch of snow at work and pressed the clutch pedal 30x, to see whether the cat came all the way to work just to pee under my car again...

So I've just deleted a post where I complained about the dash clock I've fixed (supply capacitors didn't work properly at low temp - I tested it in the freezer and everything), and that loveless thing just threw a light bulb. Aside from the sluggish UI making me deleting that post unintentionally - it's fixed now, result.

Todo list update, now with time estimates. I'm good at online shopping, but not so good in getting my ass out into the freezing garage.. 1. Replace camshaft seal IF that's the source for all the oil. Keep belt if that's it. (3-13hrs) 2. replace the engine mounts (4hrs) 3. Replace RHS swaybar holding bracket (1hr) 4. Brake fluid@clutch needs flush (2hrs) 5. sand and respray three more winter wheels (cookies) (1000hrs) 6. Rust - contact a company for evaluation. (time is no

Focus is on MS tires. 944 on stands, I'm considering to do the camshaft front seal right away - originally, I just wanted to do the engine mounts... Makes sense, so I just know if my worst-case scenario (cam tower gasket and or head gasket) is true, or the diagnosis of the P-dealer (cam front seal) is correct.

Managed to push back the somewhat seized piston in the Focus, but it seized again on the 1 mile test drive. Is the hose swollen shut?

I'm missing a task/maintenance/repair schedule and listing feature in WW... Current repair: 1. Rhs door card has no plastic layer against moisture. I have plastic foil at hand, but as a while-you-are-in-there I decided to : 1.a) replace the outer horizontal rubber lip (the one that "seals" the glass against precipitation). The old brackets crumbled away, of course, so I'm: 1.b) waiting for new brackets and can't drive the car (or else the glass might suffer). 1.c) As a bonus, I think the

Oil change due 3. engine mounts need replacement (goes with 2.) 4. Brake fluid/clutch needs flush (goes with 2.) 5. sand and respray winter wheels (cookies) 6. Rust - contact a company for evaluation. Do it this year: 7. Have daytime running light PWM for bumper high beams 8. lhs door weather stripping 9. floor mat creeping under the panels, get proper ones Do it: 10
