The Pontiac G8 and I share a story: we were both made in Australia and exported to North America. GM in their 'wisdom' have closed down the plant in South Australia that make the Commodore line of cars from which the Pontiac G8 and Chevy SS are derived so there will be no new Commodores past 2017. Furthermore, GM chose not to bring the SS to Canada, so the G8 likely represents my last chance to buy a Commodore. My GT started life as a base model, with base spec seats, steering wheel, shift knob and pedal covers. Like all GT's it came as an A6, the manual option was reserved for the GXP, of which there are only 6 actual Canadian GXPs and only 2 of those came with an extra pedal. Since I've owned it, my GT has undergone a fairly significant transformation. It's a lot sportier and more performant thanks to suspension, chassis, brake, engine and exhaust modifications and has been a great companion as I try to learn to drive fast on a race track. The story of this car wouldn't be complete without a shout out to the Ontario G8 Owners Club ogoc.ca with whose members I've been having a lot of fun.
