Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it?   I picked this car because I wanted a mustang fastback as a kid but as I got older it seemed unreasonably expensive to start off so my dad suggested Datsuns and I fell in love. So at 16 I went on Craigslist and found it run down and beat up for $900 a few miles from my house. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it?   I have done everything that it needs to be mechanically solid with some exhaust and suspension work done. Major modifications been polyurethane bushings on all of suspension. 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with wideband o2, vibrant and magnaflow mufflers . Manual rack and pinion conversion. Longer final drive 3.7 dif from 3.9. And re gasketed engine with a turbo conversion. First modification other than a ton of new parts to get it on the road has to be polyurethane bushings. Last upgrade has been completely new engine wiring and a engine manigment system. To be able to control the fuel and spark to avoid the old ECU system on the turbo conversion and for added benefits for future engine upgrades. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? Biggest bang for the buck has to be the exhaust because it's very noticeable change in driving experience for relatively low cost unlike a turbo that's very expensive. How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? I basicly just looked for what needed replacing and the parts that could be upgraded I went ahead and did it wkth out a real goal in mind. What are you planning next? To finish the engine management and hopefully finally enjoy the car for a year or so until I modify again What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? Having to replace almost every part that wears out with time since it's over 35 years old that means the whole brake system and suspension. Other stuff also like cooling system for engine and tons of other small stuff
