Unfortunately, I said goodbye to this car in April of 2018. It was an awesome cruising car, but it had been a dream of mine to own a Focus RS, and this was the MINI that I had to let go. It was an awesome car, and I will miss it dearly, especially on warm, sunny days. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? I crashed my R53 mid-2016, and was in the market for another car. I had my eye on an STI and a Focus RS, but ultimately decided to put those off for a few years and save $15k and go with another MINI. The R59 JCW roadsters were very hard to find, this one is apparently one of 415 in the US (I've heard). I couldn't find any near Atlanta, so I actually found this one in LA and bought it from a guy sight-unseen and had it trucked over here. It only had 7000 miles on it and was still under warranty, so I didn't have much to lose. This car is awesome, much more comfortable than my R53, and the convertible top is great almost year-round in Atlanta. This has been my DD for the last year, and now that the R53 is back on the road, I will be making that more of a weekend track toy. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? Bone stock in terms of engine and drivetrain for now. It has a few OEM cosmetic upgrades: red cowl scoops, GP2 diffuser, stripes, and halo LED running lights. Although it does have an M7 under strut system that the previous owner put on it. What are you planning next? I'd say not much, but if it's anything like my R53, I'm sure I'll fall down the rabbit hole as soon as the warranty expires.
