Well, I bought this Jetta with 5000$ I had saved up working in a kitchen. I needed a car for school, and had no fucking clue what I was buying. I ended up learning how to do basic maintenance because I was broke, and eventually started looking at improvements. I got a job at a local performance shop, and before I knew it I'd spent way too much money and turned my Jetta into more than a first car. I don't have a final goal for this build, I just keep tinkering with what I have, and putting in new parts when I can.
