I purchased my 88 Civic at an auction in North Carolina for around $1500. I managed to buy it before the actual bidding began, signed some paperwork and drove it out of there. Shortly after driving the car for a bit, I realized that there was quite a bit of work needed to get the car road worthy. A few weeks prior my 87 Honda Accord LX was hit while driving in the wet. The settlement with the insurance was enough that I could buy the Civic and have around $2000 or so left to have some fun. Long story short the car ended up at Pepboys for a new radiator and some other work. It then went down the road to a transmission shop for a new clutch. After that the car was ready to go, but I had completely blown through all of the leftover cash.

I started really simple. Doing goofy inexpensive mods like painting interior parts and such. One day I was at a light and having a little moment trying to get the hang of the new clutch bite point. Have not driven manual for that long, I gave it too much gas and dropped the clutch and goddamn that little 1.5L launched me away from the light faster than I had expected or felt before and I liked it! From there it was on! How can make this little sports car faster.
