About this product

Since 1988 the BBK Performance brand has been synonymous with bolt on performance for modern muscle cars and trucks since its beginning in 1988. In fact it was our founders Brian & Ken Murphy that designed and developed the first aftermarket air intake systems & performance throttle bodies for the then newly fuel injected 5.0L Mustang and TPI Camaro models. Back then nobody even knew what an air intake or throttle body was because people were just learning about these modern day fuel injected pony cars Detroit began producing. Fast forward to today and many enthusiasts have only grown up on computer controlled fuel injection with a vocabulary full of upgrade items such as throttle body, air intake & mass air meter and have never driven a carbureted equipped vehicle. It?s this early experience and years of research & development, along with millions of dedicated enthusiasts that have allowed the BBK brand to grow into the largest source of modern day performance products for today?s cars & trucks. Starting from a 1200 ft building in Southern California, our BBK facilities have grown as fast as our product lines with nearly 200,000ft of state of the art design, manufacturing & distribution facilities located in California & Florida. What made you choose this particular product?

A little on the expensive side around $300 but it's gonna be far more reliable than a used or rebuilt one. Plus the most used Q45 90mm upgrade is overkill and requires a matching $1000 sheet metal intake manifold. Fits intake pipes better and I found a custom direct bolt on sheet metal matching 75mm for under $450. Does require some form of adapted module of sorts from a Nissan Maxima to be spliced in or rewired.

Is this your first time buying from this brand? Did you consider other brands?

Yes first time. Yes my alternative was unreliable used or rebuilt near 30 year old parts.

Was it easy to install? Any installation tips that will help others?

Requires special Nissan Maxima Module or parts of sorts spliced in or rewired. Outside of researching the part making sure to purchase the correct one and what to modify not too bad. My custom intake manifold requires tons of custom fittiment modifications. Hood, throttle cable creations, welds, modification of FMIC piping to rear turbo, hood mods or different hood all together.

Once you've had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?

Worth the money and reliability. Have enough experiments and custom work that needs to be done. This was one of the easier more reliable mods I've done.

What were you trying to accomplish by adding this product?

Performance Gains, replace my restrictive factory throttle body with a BBK Power Plus Series Throttle body that features a generous, free flowing 85mm bore design. It is a simple, direct bolt-on install that does not require any computer tuning to enjoy the newly discovered power I have put on my drive-by-wire pony. Expect to see gains of up to 10-15HP and 20-25 TQ.
