B8 5100 shock absorbers utilize a unique, velocity sensitive, digressive piston which reacts to changing road conditions. All B8 5100 shock absorbers are tuned for each specific application to assure optimal performance is achieved. Is this your first time buying from this brand? Did you consider other brands?
Yes. I did look at TEIN and Cusco, KW and others. TEIN's Flex Z were out of stock when I was looking. I found these Bilsteins from a forum member who bought them and never installed, so I got a great deal. The more I looked into them, the better they sounded.
Was it easy to install? Any installation tips that will help others?
Somewhat easy. Installing a full coilover setup takes about 4-6 hours if you have all your tools together and have done your research. Chances are, you will need camber adjustment, so get camber bolts for the fronts, and some adjustable lower control arms for the back, as well as adjustable toe arms. That way, when you get your alignment done, the technician can dial it in perfectly.
Once you've had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
They are a great setup, but at first they were real bouncy. I thought I had set the pre-load incorrectly, but after a few weeks they settled down. It will take a while to get the height set right, but once you get it where you like, it's great.
Any additional comments?
These do not have any damper adjustments, so if you need that, you might need the P16s.

Not my first time buying bilsteins shocks, but my first time buying adjustable coilovers from them. I considered KW as well.
Was it easy to install? Any installation tips that will help others?
The install was fairly easy. To make the fronts much easier, use ratcheting wrenches with angled heads. When doing the install on a lift, use a jack to support the rear subframe when disconnecting the shocks and lowering it. Also, lube up the top of the rear shocks where the original components get re-used, might get a little noise otherwise.
Once you've had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
Absolutely. The springs are definitely stiffer, but they're also much better matched to the dampers than the stock setup, so the car is much less bouncy and therefore is perceived to have better ride quality while still being firm. Top notch product.

This was probably the most disappointing product i've installed. Biggest problem was that Bilstein clearly did not develop this kit. The spring rates do not match at all to the weight or weight balance of the car. They also used a poorly (yet strong) designed endlink mount. Beyond this, these are actually very strong and quality dampers. For the price they are not worth it, considering i have to spend another 1000+ dollars on new springs and strut plates.
