About this product

Part #: 957094

Derived from racing, the Vogtland compound spring consists of two different spring rates. The initial rate provides the proper preload necessary for correct suspension function during all road conditions. The final rate is designed to provide the appropriate vehicle balance for neutral steering characteristics. Each spring is calibrated for every specific car model and provides a balance between performance and comfort. You can visually and physically experience your car in a whole new way.

What made you choose this particular product?
Cost and spring rates.
What were you trying to accomplish by adding this product?
Better performance while maintaining a decent ride quality.
Was it easy install? Any installation tips that will help others?
Relatively easy job on the E30. The fronts are definitely more difficult than the rears.
Once you’ve had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
Previously had Eibach springs that were a little too stiff for my taste. The vogtland's have a slightly lower spring rate which makes them a bit softer for street driving.
Any additional comments?
Be prepared for a battle with the steering knuckle in the front in order to get the strut out. it was a pain in the a** because of how seized the baljoints were in the knuckle.

What made you choose this particular product?
The spring was not absurdly low, and had good reviews on it's ride quality, glad I purchased!
What were you trying to accomplish by adding this product?
I was trying to make my car lower before going to coilovers someday.
Was it easy install? Any installation tips that will help others?
It was pretty hard. fortunately with these springs, you don't need a spring compressor to get the top seat and nut back on the strut.
Once you’ve had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
It met my expectations for sure. Certainly improved handling and stability, and really helped stabilized body roll prior to an upgraded sway bar.

What made you choose this particular product?
After being sent the wrong lowering springs for his S60R (TWICE), a fellow Volvo crony sold me a set of these springs, for a steal. The funny thing about these is I was watching this EXACT kit on eBay for weeks.
What were you trying to accomplish by adding this product?
I wanted to lower Jody for better handling without breaking the bank despite considering coilovers. However, I still have the option to get stronger struts instead, which will still cost significantly less in the end. I'm greatly considering getting Bilstein HD struts when I'm ready to upgrade further.
Was it easy install? Any installation tips that will help others?
Yes, and no. The front springs were VERY straightforward, and probably took a total of 40 minutes to complete--mostly because I built the same front struts before, and had the right tools. On the other hand, the rear springs took several hours because that was uncharted territory for me. I had to maneuver the control arms, and such to get things reassembled and fastened with the new springs in, but I learned quite a bit, and studied the still-solid rear subframe components in the process!
Once you’ve had a chance to use the product, did it meet your expectations?
Absolutely. Jody rides much lower, but not too low, which is nice when it comes to Illinois roads. Handling is much better--especially with high-speed turning, and ride quality is worse, as expected, but certainly no dealbreakers. When a set of Bilsteins won't break the bank, I'll definitely upgrade to such stronger struts. After, or even during that, more stabilizer bars, upgraded swaybars and bushings will be installed.
Any additional comments?
Paired with some good struts, these springs are a great budget alternative to coilovers.
