Today we have the pleasure of meeting Anna Candellero, Sparco's tailoring manager.Anna Candellero has been sewing with needle and fireproof thread for over 28 years alongside pilots. Indeed the most important suits have passed through her skilled hands, from Alesi to Alonso, Nannini and Button, just to name a few - readers are probably feeling slightly envious right now.You have always worked in close contact with drivers: from your point of view, what does a driver expect from Sparco?AC: My personal experience has shown me that what they value is the care and attention they receive from Sparco. We follow them all over the world just to take their measurements, can you imagine?! We listen to their requirements and strive to fulfil their needs in record time. That is no mean feat, considering that every day from 10 to 15 sheets of personalized suits pass on my desk. Direct contact with drivers forges a special bond. What do you like more about your job? AC: I was very young when I started working in this company. I sewed suits from the first stitch down to the last finishing detail. What has always fascinated me is being able to follow the suit throughout its entire production process: from design to end result. It’s wonderful to see the suit come to life but to see it be worn is an emotion...and if the driver wearing it wins the race, well, that makes it all the more thrilling. In many cases a great relationship develops with pilots, which sometimes develops into friendship. I am continually amazed by their loyalty to the Sparco brand! In some cases this loyalty passes from generation to generation, as is the case with Jean Alesi and his son Giuliano.Who is your favorite driver?AC: I have a weak spot for Button.Do you have anecdote for us?AC: I can tell you that Sparco even made it to the altar once. For their wedding, two drivers decided to get married in racing suits and print their wedding rings on the back! I had great fun working on that project; it made me realize that Sparco is also about love...The most exiting moment?AC: Hearing two Dakar drivers saying they won thanks to the lightness of Sparco, describing our suits as "comfortable aspajamas"!Travel is part of the job, where have you been? AC: Everywhere, I have travelled lots thanks to Sparco. My job has enabled me to reconcile my profession with my dreamy personality...to such an extent that one of my favorite places is actually the airport!
