The Story

I bought this car, fully configured as you see it here. It was built by an extremely talented wizard, Dean, from Bakersfield, CA. I found the car, by luck, through and though I was not looking for a modified N600, when I saw it, I just knew I had to have it. This 1972 Honda N600 is a highly modified example powered by a liquid cooled V4 from a 1998 Honda VFR800 Interceptor. It is setup for fast road and autocross use, with several years spent dialing in the build. It features four wheel independent suspension based on shortened NA Miata components, paddle shifters for the sequential transmission and a 12k RPM redline. The side glass and door hinges are the only parts of the bodywork which remain stock. The body has been shaved, smoothed, and tucked all around including handformed fiberglass flares. Both front and rear bumpers are in fact narrowed rear bumpers from a ’67 Camaro. Both have integrated LED lighting, driving lights at the front and the taillights/turn signals at the rear. In addition to the obvious addition of a driveline tunnel, the interior is laden with interesting custom touches, from a functional cluster from the VFR800, to a stock N600 steering wheel cut down to a 13″ diameter. The front seats are from a Polaris RZR, and the rear seat is the standard Honda item. I'm 6'1" tall fit comfortably with plenty of headroom. The seats are mounted low on adjustable rails. Suspension is based on NA-Miata parts with a track narrowed by 9.5″. 4-wheel disc brakes are fitted utilizing a Miata master cylinder. Koni yellows are fitted at all four corners. The rear differential is a 7.5″ Ford unit centered in the narrowed Miata rear subframe. The use of Miata components gives the car a 4×100 bolt pattern. A simple Supertrapp exhaust protrudes under the rear valence, though the car is equipped with an exhaust cutout that certainly draws a crowd to this micro monster. At only 1,400 pounds,with approximately "only" 115hp, Sponge Bob, as the car is affectionately known, gets up and GOES!

        Have you thought about putting a quickshifter on it so you don't have to use the clutch to shift?

        Great idea, since its a bike engine it should work but with the paddles I don't know how the setup will work.
