Part 1: Assessing the condition and planning ahead Assessing the condition Before I would be willing to take this car to the track I wanted to make sure that everything was in order so I wouldn’t risk

#BMW #2003 #525i #E39 #Euro #ProjectCar #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild This has been a typical sight in my 525 lately. I'm constantly transferring parts from my basement to the E46 for sale and lets just say I have a "small" stockpile, lol.

#bmw #525i #e39 #ProjectCar #CarPorn #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Caught the sunrise this morning and decided to drive around to some of my favorite photo spots. There's something about catching the first light that's so soothing to me.

I found a well known brand that sells them for nearly $1200 but that is way out of the price range for me. So

#BMW #E39 #2003 #525i #project_car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Parked at the local big box hardware store this morning and noticed the shadow of my Team Wheelwell banner.

#BMW #2003 #525i #E39 #Vinyl #Wrap #DIY #Project_Car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Just picked up some green "carbon fiber" wrap to cover up the old, dull wood grain trim in the 525i. I wanted something that would be a nice colorful break between the grey and black of the interior. I think This'll do the trick and if it doesn't it was only $8!

#BMW #E39 #2003 #525i #Euro #ProjectCar When I picked up my new intake over the weekend I also snagged 2 of these BBS wheels for a steal. They're a little rough around the edges but in nice shape overall. Now I just need to find 2 more, the center caps, and figure out what tires I want to wrap them with.

#bmw #2003 #525i #e39 #euro #diy #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Found this at a great price locally. There are no brand markings on it but it feels solid. The biggest thing that sold me on it was that it has a 6" velocity stack and it makes wonderful noise. I think my next move is to get a quality filter to replace the unknown one currently on it.

#bmw #2003 #525i #e39 #project_car Started off my morning by taking advantage of the short period of the morning before the rain to get my Team Wheelwell banner put on. Followed that up by putting on my trunk lip spoiler. I definitely think the bigger lip was the right choice.

#BMW #E39 #2003 #525i #project_car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild For a mod that cost me about $20 and only took about 2 minutes to install it made a big difference in how the car looks. Now to attack some other appearance stuff

#BMW #E39 #2003 #525i #Euro #Project_car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Found an empty spot next to the Mercedes Benz version of my E39: a C230. A quick search showed that this one was from the same exact era as my car. Not an amazing thing but still fun to think about.

#BMW #E39 #525i #2003 #Bass #Audio #Project_Car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Finally dug out the 1200w Sony Xplod subwoofer to see how it would fit in the E39. Looks like there should be plenty of space for it. Now, to start overhauling the entire audio system, lol.

#BMW #E39 #525i #2003 #Project_Car #Drifting #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_XpqF8OEVw I was watching the "Unprofessionals" series starring Rob "Chairslayer" Parsons and Hertrech "Hert" Eugene earlier and got to thinking about how I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to go with my E39 but drifting sounded fun. I found this video and I think I've got the bug to make my 525i into a drift car. It's got a long way to go (and a lot of "nanny" systems to remove)

#BMW #525i #2003 #E39 #Guide #HowTo #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild One of the biggest concerns when you buy a used car (especially one that’s more complex than normal and has high mileage) is how healthy the engine is. Sure, you can take it for a test drive and try to “feel” if it’s healthy or not but if you want to be absolutely sure, you need empirical data. One of the best (and fastest) ways to get solid data on the

#DIY #Detailing #BMW #525i #Honda #Fit #project_car #daily_driver #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild The cooler temps early this morning meant I could do stuff outside for longer which meant cars got detailed. The 5 series got cleaned, clay barred, and waxed. The Fit got cleaned and waxed. Both turned out incredible. Just look at how deep the Passion Berry Pearl looks!

#BMW #525i #2003 #Project_Car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Previous test numbers are on the left. This mornings numbers are on the right. It looks like I've decided on my project car.

#BMW #Saab #525i #93 #Project_Car #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Lately I've been working on narrowing down the number of "project" cars that I have so that instead of constantly bouncing between projects and getting nowhere I can focus on one and make progress (as well as actually have somewhere to keep it). I have decided to sell my E46 (link here if you're interested: https://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto/d/the-perfect-car-does-exist/6630299479.html ) because it needs more work than I really want to put into a project right now

#BMW #Honda #Ford #525i #Fit #Focus #detailing #TeamWheelwell #ForTheBuild Started off with cleaning the front interior of the bimmer. I got most of it cleaned up and protected. Then decided to treat the cowl trim on my Focus and my wife's Fit. Reviews of the products I used will be up later this week. I wish I could have gotten more done but the humidity was killing me.
