Tell us the story behind your ride. What made you pick this particular one? Where did you find it? I have always loved Subaru's... Previously owned an L Series Touring Wagon (would love to purchase another one some day), and a 1998 N/A Forester. Great reliable cars as long as you maintain them. I've always wanted to own a Turbo Forester. Didn't really like the XT Models at first but they kind of grew on me, preferred the older GT models. Finally decided to sell my previous Forester and bought this one, I knew it was a little rough but it already had some mods done to it, including Forged pistons, Turbo Back Exhaust, Coil Overs, Cold Air Intake, Bigger Intercooler and WRX 4 Pot front brakes. I also managed to get it at a good price as the person was selling on behalf of someone. Ever since then I actually found out it also came with the added bonus of a bigger turbo than stock (IHI VF30) score! I have been adding parts here and there trying to make it more reliable while trying to squeeze more power out of the unknown built engine. Describe the modifications you've made. Where did you start, what’s the most recent mod and what motivated it? I started off with upgrading the brakes a bit further with new rotors, brake pads and braided lines. General maintenance including clutch, spark plugs etc. Then went on to power mods including injectors, fuel pump, boost control solenoid, recirculating bov, turbo inlet and an ECUTek tune. Managing to get 202.6kw at the wheels on a mainline dyno. Of all the mods you’ve made, which do you think offers the biggest bang for the buck? Injectors and Fuel pump, previous owner was still using stock injectors on the bigger turbo. How did you go about selecting the specific parts for this build? Any installation tips to share? Got it all installed by professionals as I'm don't really have the time to spend installing things myself. A lot of forum research was involved in selecting the parts, taking a look at build threads of similar models. What are you planning next? Next will be a flex fuel sensor and new fuel lines to support ethanol followed by potentially a built short block and use my existing heads, so at least I know what's inside the engine. Would love to get a 6 Speed with DCCD but it can be a pretty costly thing so might have to wait a while. What’s been the biggest challenge with this build? The built engine... It is a mystery what the previous owner did to it. I have managed to get bits of information but the previous workshop hasn't been very forthcoming.
