VEHICLE STORY

Bought right after I sold the MINI in June 2015. I'm normally the guy who buys the stock car and mods it myself, in fact every other car in my garage started out 100% stock. Getting a chance to own a car this well done at the price I paid was not something I was going to pass up. However it needed a little love when I bought it. Starter was bad, power steering pump was shot, rims were spray painted, passenger mirror was broken, and front bumper had a deep scratch from a garage door. First thing I did was replace the starter and power steering pump. Next I had someone come fix the front bumper, then I shipped the wheels off to HRE to be fully refurbished. Car had a T56 from a Z51 C6 which never felt quite right, then I suddenly lost the 1-2 synchro. So in went a RPM Transmissions C5 Z06 T56. I also replaced the very old double din head unit with a new one, and added a 10" subwoofer. Future plans are to replace the interior carpet, and get the car over 500whp.

Man, just thinking looking at your pics, these C5's don't look like "old cars" still. The design really holds up.

[]Travis Osborne

It for sure did. I always wondered if it would age like the C4, but after the C7 came out and they still looked good, I knew the design would hold up. Lowering them, flush mounting the tail lights, and painting the bottom of the bumper black really helps too in my opinion.

I’m bias but have to agree - and you’re right, it’s the stance that completes it. I get a surprising amount of compliments from non-car people and they are always shocked when I tell them it’s 20 years old.

[]Travis Osborne

Happens to me at least once a week. They think I'm lying when I say it's a 97!

[]Andrew Johnson

I know, right? I think the color helps, too. The paint has really held up and the Arctic White shade was always so crisp and clean looking.

[]Travis Osborne

Arctic White is the best color! Not like we're biased... right? Haha

[]Landon Shore

The gold wheels with the white is a damn sharp look! that is a great looking C5! well done! excellent wheel fitment as well

[]Robert Sixto

Agreed!

[]Travis Osborne

Thanks! The wheels are custom made for the C5 to clear C6 brakes, so the fit is spot on.

[]Landon Shore

There is not much better then bespoke wheels for your car...well done again. HRE's are hard to beat

[]Christopher McDowell El

Yes this is a very nice contrast for the car. It breaks up the mundane from typical C5's with a simple yet purposeful look.

[]Ernie Szots

Tremendous.

[]Matthew Brozack

I believe 97 was the first year with that body style. Definitely one of my favorites!

[]Travis Osborne

Nice! Corvette's are fun cars, hard to find anything else that can compete for the price they run!

[]Steven Jones

Nice, very nice. My dad had a '96 that I spent hours working on with him.

[]Travis Osborne

This is actually how I bought the car, I'm just slowly going through it and finding everything that is done to it. It's the first time I have ever bought a car that's already done! Had my eye on this one for a while, then got an opportunity to purchase it. Would have be fun to build it myself, but this way is much cheaper!

[]Andrew Johnson

Looks like this build is coming along nicely! It's pretty close to mine, although I'm sorely lacking in the suspension department...

[]Ryan Brenner

SICK!!!!! Congrats!!

[]Travis Osborne

Thanks, just have to take some good pics and start listing all the mods!
