This is my stock 2005 Saab 9-3 arc SS (Sports Sedan). I bought this car pretty soon after I turned 18. I was so excited at the time that I was able to finance it, and also how good of a deal it was that I overlooked it being automatic and bought the car for $8,000 with 65k miles on it. It was in near perfect condition and the place was a Saab dealer before they went out of business, So I knew I was getting my money's worth. It's been almost 2 years since then, and the car has pretty much been perfect for me. My worst problem has probably been a fog light going out, which is such a simple fix, it's hardly worth mentioning. The only problem with the car is if something does eventually break, I will have to pay slightly more than I would for a Japanese/American counterpart. However, having paid half the price that I would for it's competitors (mk5 Gti/Cadillac CTS) I'm not too worried about that. I keep the car stock, mainly because I don't think it's really worth putting money into. I plan to drive it for as long as I need to, and am saving for something much more to my liking. I would highly recommend this car to any young adult looking to find a quick/affordable/reliable car for $5-10k. Just avoid 03-04 for all their annoying/expensive electric bugs, and you'll have a car that I genuinely believe is half the price of what it's really worth. Owning a SAAB has really taught me to appreciate the company, and makes me wonder how such a modestly regarded company was able to go out of business. Hopefully one day a Serious buyer give Saab another chance. If they ever manage to sell in America again, I'll be sure to get my hands on one.
